I was in Yoho National Park, heading for Takakkaw Falls. The low clouds made the visit that much more interesting. Before I reached the fall, I saw the view of it from the road, with the low clouds and the trees in the foreground. I decided to take the pictures of the fall right there.

This one year old with two older mountain goats were hanging out near the bottom of the valley. Looking for important minerals to digest and eating plants as well. It was nice treat see them up close, since I have been watching them from a distance for several months.

Low clouds were passing through the Yoho Valley in Yoho NP. Its a beautiful place to visit, but that morning the low clouds made it that much more special. I stopped at few spots to take pictures, including taking pictures of the trees with the clouds passing through them.

Few weeks back I was visiting Yoho National Park, taking pictures of a fall, then it was time to turn around and take pictures of the sunrise. The peaks were in the distance but the clouds really made this picture for me.

I was visiting Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park, the second highest waterfall in Western Canada. Always find it difficult getting a good picture of it, I never give up. Had to move back as the wind kept blowing the mist toward me. In the end that gave me the picture I wanted.

Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park was at its best. Second highest waterfall in Canada, at 254 meters. With the melt water and rain making its way to the Yoho Valley at the bottom, it fitted its Cree name "Takakkaw", meaning "it is magnificent".

There I was in Yoho National Park, in Yoho Valley standing next to the moving water in Yoho River. Walking back and forth trying to find the best position to take a picture of Mount Stephen. When I first arrived at the location that morning, there were no clouds, hoped some would make their way behind the mountain. As I kept taking pictures from different location, clouds started to move in. All was set. I lowered the camera close to the river rocks, rocks leading to the water, water leading to the trees, the trees leading up to the mountain and the mountain leading up to the clouds. Then I was off to explore more of the valley and talk to the marmots about staying off the road.

One Year Old Black Bear
Its always great to see young wildlife. Came across couple of one year old Black Bear, with their mom close by. Was able to get a good picture of one of the cub. Then coming across a juvinile Mountain Goat, and hour later a weeks only Elk calf, still with spots. Then on my way home took a picture of adult Northern Flicker feeding a chick.

One of the things I like about living where I like do my photography, is I can always go back to an area to keep trying to get a better picture of the subject. The first time I took a picture of Mount Stephen was when I went to Yoho National Park to take pictures of Takakkaw Falls this summer. As I was leaving the Yoho Valley, I liked the view of Mount Stephen I was seeing but the morning light was gone. I decided to scout the area for future visit.
The next chance I had to take picture of Mount Stephen, great light but cloudless sky did not do it for me. A week passed and I was back along Kicking Horse River waiting for the sunrise. Light comes in contact with the mountain but again clear sky, not for long, this time clouds were moving in. Just hoped they would move into position before the early light was replaced. As I waited, I looked around for even a better foreground. Found a balsam poplar branch leaning over the river. Everything was in place, I snapped few pictures before the clouds made their way out of the frame. But this is not the end, never is, will be back again to see if I can get a better picture.

Was coming back from Takakkaw Fall, through the Yoho Valley. On the way to the fall had seen mountain goats and a porcupine, but not enough light to take a proper picture of either. As I was making my way out of the valley, daylight was making its way to the bottom. I came out to an open area where I saw two moose. Both enjoying lush green buffet that filled bottom of the valley, average adult puts away some 10,000 calories a day. I have seen moose few times this summer, but never this close. I found them quite interesting watching them and taking pictures from the car, as they went about their business. Had the view all to myself, but after about fifteen minutes I said bye to them and made my way out of the valley.
