The elk calf is kept isolated until it's large enough to escape predators. The calves are born spotted. like others in the deer species. After two weeks the calves join the herd. This one is only a week old and is left in a "safe" spot by the mother, as it looks for food. The calves will curl up and stay motionless, hoping not to be spotted. This one was noticed by friends looking for birds.
Until next moment,
