This is my favourite time to watch the elk, during the rut season. There is so much drama, all the elk are affected during this time. The dominant males are centre of attention, all the females get attention from just about all the males. The young males who just want to just stay close to the harem for their safety, are pushed away to defend for them selves until the rut season is over. The young's of this year are trying to keep track of their mothers while a large male is bugling away smelling of dirt, sweat and urine hitting on mom.
