It took some effort to get this grebe into liquid chocolate, in the end it was worth it. Every spring I’ll see one or two of these small waterfowls, Pied-billed Grebe. That was the case this spring, I looked in the distance one morning and saw one in the river. Then over the few weeks I tried to get a picture of it form a closer distance. They are always busy looking for small fish and invertebrates and that was the case the morning I got this picture. The water was still, other than the ripples it was causing. The sun light hitting the dry grass and willow shrubs behind created the chocolate reflection colour on the water.
